Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Rydofleet (“Rydofleet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Rydofleet passenger and driver mobile applications (each an “App” and together the “Apps”) and related services. Some practices differ between the two Apps; where that is the case we call it out below. By using an App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide ride-booking and dispatching services:
- Account information (both Apps). Name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a one-way hash), and an internal user identifier.
- Location information (Passenger app). Precise and approximate device location while the App is open and in use. We use this to detect your pickup point, show nearby drivers, calculate fare estimates, and display your trip on a map. The Passenger app does not collect location in the background or when the App is closed.
- Location information (Driver app). Precise device location while the App is open and in use, sent to our servers approximately every 15 seconds during an active shift. We use this to match you to nearby ride requests, to show your position to the assigned passenger during an active trip, and to give your dispatcher operational visibility. The Driver app does not collect location in the background or when the App is closed.
- Trip information (both Apps). Pickup and drop-off addresses, scheduled times, passenger count, ride notes, fare estimate, assigned driver and vehicle, and trip status history.
- Saved places (Passenger app). Addresses you choose to save (e.g. Home, Work) so you can book rides faster.
- Shift and vehicle information (Driver app). Shift start and end times, the vehicle assigned to you by your fleet operator, and the trips you accept, decline, and complete.
- Device and notification identifiers (both Apps). An Expo push-notification token, device model, operating system version, and app version. The push token is used to deliver trip-status notifications and, for drivers, job offers.
- Diagnostic information (both Apps). Crash logs and basic in-app activity (e.g. screens viewed, errors encountered) used to improve reliability.
Neither App collects photos, contacts, calendar entries, SMS messages, microphone audio, health data, or financial account information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Rydofleet account.
- To match passengers with available drivers and complete the trips that passengers request.
- To share a passenger's pickup location, name, and phone number with the assigned driver so the driver can locate the passenger and contact them about the ride.
- To share a driver's live location with the assigned passenger during an active trip so the passenger can see the driver approaching.
- To send trip-status notifications to passengers (e.g. driver assigned, driver arrived, trip complete) and job offer notifications to drivers.
- To estimate fares using pickup and drop-off coordinates.
- To support shift management, dispatching, and operational oversight for fleet operators using the Driver app.
- To diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and improve the Apps.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Sharing of Information
We share information only as needed to operate the service:
- Between passenger and driver. When a trip is assigned, we share the passenger's name, phone number, pickup and drop-off points, and trip notes with the assigned driver, and we share the driver's name, phone number, vehicle details, and live location with the assigned passenger for the duration of the trip.
- With your fleet operator (Driver app). If you are a driver, your shift status, location during an active shift, and trip activity are visible to the dispatchers and administrators of the fleet you drive for.
- With our service providers. We use Google Maps for mapping and address search, Expo for push-notification delivery, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of users.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Data Retention
We retain account information while your account is active. Trip records are kept for as long as required for operational, accounting, and legal purposes. Crash logs and diagnostic events are typically retained for up to 90 days. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
5. Security
All data transmitted between the Apps and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update. You can review and edit your profile from the Profile screen in either App.
- Location permission. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Some features (pickup detection and fare estimates in the Passenger app; receiving and completing jobs in the Driver app) require location and will be limited without it.
- Push notifications. You can disable notifications in your device settings. The Driver app relies on push notifications to deliver job offers, so disabling them will prevent you from receiving new rides.
- Account deletion. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data via our web form at rydofleet.com/delete-account , or by emailing us at hello@rydofleet.com . Drivers should coordinate with their fleet operator before requesting deletion. We will action verified deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
The Apps are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Users
Rydofleet is operated from AWS infrastructure in the United States (region us-east-1). If you use the Apps from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Apps or by email.
